Yesterday was a good day! Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! I love the trick or treaters coming to the door.

I have had my ups and downs over the past 10 days. I started my day out by sleeping until 8:45, which is unheard of (up today at 5:00 a.m.). I went almost a full 60 minutes on the treadmill (watching Suze Orman and then Till Debt Do Us Part that were DVR'd).

Then YD, granddaughter and I went to Eureka to let GD trick or treat. We met her BFF and mom there and walked another who knows how far. I was a bit concerned about all the walking and I did get stiff later in the day, but my back was surprisingly pain-free. Either it was the exercise or all the new vitamins and supplements I am taking.

Came home to a completely clean living area with a fire in the fireplace. (DH did it after getting home from his early Saturday morning run to work).

Friday evening I took advantage of Safeway's sales and had an employee tell me all about the new Just for U program. Finally after 30 years, our grocery stores are finally in a bit of a war. Employee specifically said that with the new program, prices would be lower than Winco or Costco. Okay I will give it a whirl.

Here is what I bought:

The commercial peanut butter is for cookies, you know the kind with the chocolate kisses in the middle. It was $1.29 a jar. The apple juice was 97 cents! The brownie mixes were 88 cents. I spent just over $34.00. I know not impressive for some of you coupon queen types, but I was pretty excited.

I finally finished the baby quilt for YD's friend who is due any day:

Can you see that little arm and leg?

YD has become a bit obscessed making Yo Gabba Gabba shirts and has opened an Etsy store.

Finally here is the latest picture of my winter garden box:

It has been almost 2 months since planting. Time to start harvesting!

I think you did great at the grocery store. Smile But I'm not a "Coupon Queen" either. Although I wish I could be that organized!

Actually Ralph I think those are the turnips. We do have arugula growing though, our second batch. Summer batch got completely out of control. Arugula is related to wild mustard, which grows everywhere around here. In fact as a child, my great aunt used to gather it and steam it, and feed it to us. Little did we all realize it would one day be a trendy cooking ingredient.
