Quick money saving tip

Smell cleaning products before buying. I just, thank goodness, finished up my one and only bottle of Clorox Greenworks "Natural" toilet bowl cleaner cleaning both bathrooms this morning.



It stinks like a skilled nursing facility, seriously. Will never buy it again. The frugal part of me could not just throw it out even though every time I used it I could hardly stand it.

Now watch one of you guys will think it is great. Another one to avoid... Orange Glo. That sickeningly sweet orange smell is just too much for me. I would rather use ammonia and bleach (separately of course).

    I can't use ammonia or bleach...those fumes give me headaches almost instantly. They are very harmful, too.

    I don't think there is any scented product on the market that I enjoy, at all. They all make me ill.

    If it's any consolation, most of those products are a rip anyway. Slap on the word "natural" and double the price. Wheeee. Clearly your nose tells you it is anything but natural, right?

    I had been thinking about these products and checked out an opinion website and it listed them as not being good at all. I have to be very careful as I care for my elderly mom and she has developed rashes but we are not sure from what - testing is being done. We are now using very little of "purchased products'. Baking soda, vinegar, you get the idea.

    yeah, i just use vinegar, eucalyptus oil, bi carb and bleach to clean with. so much easier.

    OMG, I got an Irish Spring body wash free with rebate maybe 2 and a half years ago. I sure as heck cannot wash with it. The smell is so strong. Maybe if they knocked the scent down by a factor of about 20, I could use it. So now I just use it every now and them to scrub my toilet where I will not have my nose close to it and can flush it away fast. But mostly it just sits in the closet, ignored.

    I agree... some of the scents are just so overpowering they're not worth using.
