My girls are home, my SIL is in Afthanistan and it is time to really start with the menu planning/shopping.
I know some here are doing the same and I have a link for you:

Each Monday they have so many blog links with menus for the week. This one is really good as it also has a shopping list:

Now I just have to do it (plan the menu)!
Tonight is my second cake decorating class. Last week was really fun, but hard on the wrists. This was not the smartest class to take in the middle of being evaluated for carpal tunnel syndrome. I will wear my elastic wrist braces tonight and hope that helps.

Thanks for the comment on my entry yesterday. Happy Anniversary too. I meet my husband in high school. I've known him for 26 years!!!!
I live in the Bay Area; I have all my life.
Some of your questions:
I cannot back out of the Vegas trip without losing money and costing our friends money. I am just going to suck it up and spend wisely. We don't gamble so aside from meals and maybe a show, we don't plan on spending any other money.
I grocery shop at Food Maxx, Target, Costco and Safeway. If I shop at Safeway it's only for stuff that's on sale and hopefully that I have a coupon for since they are ridiculously expensive. I recently starting matching up coupons to sales and while it's a lot of work, it does save money.
I've also been "CVSing" and getting stuff for free or nearly free. I've got quite s stockpile of razors, body wash and lotion lol.
My food budget is $400/mo for a family of four with a teenage boy who never stops eating lol.
Eating out has always been our budget buster and we pretty much have gone cold turkey on that. As a matter of fact, we've pretty much gone cold turkey on all spending except for bills etc.
